Creating Custom Properties in DistruLabels

Custom properties let you add extra data fields to your packages and items. These fields exist in Distru for:
1. filtering packages/items in the main view

2. having additional dynamic properties you can add to your labels

โš ๏ธ Important: Custom properties are stored in DistruLabels only. They do not affect or sync with your METRC packages or items. Any changes you make to custom properties will not appear in METRC.

Why Use Custom Properties?

Custom properties are useful for:

  • Filtering packages and items - Organize products by criteria specific to your business

  • Adding label information - Include data on labels that isn't available in METRC

  • Flexible editing - Update label content without changing METRC data

For example, you might create custom properties for internal SKUs, display names or marketing descriptions.

How to Create a Custom Property

From METRC Packages or METRC Items:

  1. Navigate to either METRC Packages or METRC Items

  2. Scroll to the right side of the table

  3. Look for the Custom Field column header

  4. Click the + symbol in the header

  5. Define your custom property and set its properties (name, type, etc.)

Your custom property is now available for all packages or items.

How to Set Values for a Custom Property

Once you've created a custom property, you can assign values to individual packages or items:

  1. Find the package or item you want to edit

  2. Click the 3 dots to the left of the name

  3. Select the custom property you want to edit

  4. Enter the value for that property

You can now use this custom property as a dynamic field in your label templates by typing @ and selecting your custom property from the list.

Using Custom Properties on Labels

When designing label templates, type @ to pull in dynamic properties. Your custom properties will appear in the list alongside standard METRC fields like strain name, THC%, and batch ID.
