Distru Cultivation - Plant Batches

How to manage the starting point of the plant lifecycle in Distru with Plant Batches

Plant Batches

Overview

Plant Batches represent the first stage of the cultivation lifecycle in Distru. A plant batch is a group of seeds or clones tracked together as a single unit — individual plants within a batch do not receive their own Metrc tags until they are promoted to the vegetative (mature plant) phase.

Distru's Cultivation suite requires an active Metrc integration. Plant batch data syncs two-ways between Distru and Metrc, so changes made in either system will be reflected in the other.

Navigation: Main Menu → Cultivation → Plant Batches

The Plant Batches Table

The Plant Batches table displays all batches for your license and includes the following columns:

  • Name — The batch name. In states that require a Metrc plant tag at the batch level, the tag number serves as the name. In other states, the name defaults to the strain + creation date.

  • Strain

  • Location

  • Planted Date

  • Age (Days) — Automatically calculated from the planted date.

  • # Plants — Current plant count in the batch.

  • # Tagged — Number of plants that have been assigned individual Metrc tags (i.e. promoted to mature plants).

  • # Destroyed

  • # Packaged

  • Source Batch/Package/Plant — The source used when the batch was created.

Active vs. Inactive Batches

Use the dropdown at the top left to toggle between Active Plant Batches and Inactive Plant Batches. A batch becomes inactive once all of its plants have been promoted, destroyed, or packaged.

Metrc Sync Status Icon

Each batch row displays a small tag icon indicating its Metrc sync status:

  • 🟢 Green — The batch is fully synced with Metrc.

  • 🟡 Yellow — A change is currently being queued or submitted to Metrc.

Creating a Plant Batch

New plant batches created in Metrc will automatically sync into Distru. You can also create plant batches directly in Distru:

  1. Click the + (Quick Create) button in the upper right corner.

  2. Select Create Plant Batch.

  3. Fill in the following:

    • Output Location — The room or zone where the batch will live.

    • Plant Batch Type — Clone or Seed.

    • Planting Date

    • Source — Choose whether the source is a Mother Plant or a package (of clones or seeds), then select the specific plant tag or package.

  4. Under New Plant Batches, click + Add New Plant Batch to add one or more batches. For each batch, enter:

    • Name (or the assigned Metrc tag if required by your state)

    • # Plants

  5. Optionally, add Additional Costs (e.g. labor) at the time of creation.

  6. Click Create Plant Batches.

You can add multiple plant batches in a single creation flow by clicking + Add New Plant Batch again.

Actions

Actions can be performed on a single batch via the row kebab menu (⋮), or on multiple batches at once by selecting them with the checkboxes and using the bulk action kebab menu.

CSV Export

Exports the selected plant batches to a CSV file.

Add Cost

Requires the Cost Accounting module. Contact your Account Manager to enable.

Assigns non-inventory costs (such as labor) to the selected plant batches. The total cost is distributed evenly across all plants within the selected batch(es).

Before using this action:

  • Cost Types must be pre-configured in Settings → Cost Accounting.

Record Additives

Records the application of a plant additive (e.g. fertilizer, pesticide) to the selected batches. This action syncs to Metrc.

Setup — Creating a Plant Additive Product:

Before recording an additive, a corresponding product must exist in Distru with the Plant Additive Type field filled out:

  1. Create a product and set the Plant Additive Type (e.g. Fertilizer, Pesticide).

  2. Once a Plant Additive Type is selected, the Plant Additive Ingredients section will appear — add each ingredient and its percentage composition.

  3. Receive inventory of this product via a Purchase Order to associate a cost with it. That cost will flow through to your plants as the inventory is consumed.

Recording an Additive:

  1. Select one or more plant batches and choose Record Additives from the bulk action menu.

  2. Set the Additive Date.

  3. Click + Add Additives to add one or more additive line items. For each:

    • Product — Select the plant additive product.

    • Quantity Applied and Unit Type

    • Inventory Source — The location batch the inventory is being pulled from.

    • Batch — The specific inventory batch.

    • Application Device (optional) — e.g. Sprayer.

  4. Click Record Additive.

The cost of the inventory consumed will be applied evenly across all plants in the selected batches.

Change Growth Phase

Promotes plants in a batch from the immature (plant batch) phase to the vegetative phase, assigning individual Metrc plant tags to each plant being promoted.

  1. Select a plant batch and choose Change Growth Phase.

  2. Set the Output Location and Change Date.

  3. Review the batch details:

    • Starting Plant Tag — The first tag in the sequence to be assigned.

    • Ending Plant Tag — Auto-calculated based on the number of plants being promoted.

    • # Immatures Changing Phase

  4. Click Change [#] Plants to submit. This action will be queued for compliance submission to Metrc.

⚠️ Important: Verify that the Starting and Ending Plant Tags shown match the physical tags you are applying to your plants. Because Metrc only allows Distru to submit a starting tag and a plant count, if any tags in the sequence have been used in Metrc directly and not yet synced to Distru, the tag assignment could be off. If you notice a discrepancy, click Resync Available Plant Tags before proceeding.

Move Plant Batch

Moves the selected plant batch(es) to a different location within the same license. Select the destination location and confirm.

Adjust Quantities

Manually adjusts the plant count for a batch.

⚠️ Note: This action is only available within the state-defined time window after a plant batch is created — most states allow 48 hours. After that window closes, direct quantity adjustments are no longer permitted.
