Plants
Overview
The Plants table displays every individual mature plant at your license, each identified by its own unique Metrc plant tag. Plants are created when a Plant Batch is promoted through the Change Growth Phase action. Like Plant Batches, plant data syncs two-ways between Distru and Metrc.
Navigation: Main Menu → Cultivation → Plants
The Plants Table
Each row represents a single plant and includes the following columns:
Plant Tag — The individual Metrc tag assigned to the plant.
Status — The plant's current growth phase: Vegetative, Flowering, or Mother.
Source Batch — The plant batch this plant was promoted from.
License Number
Strain
Location
Flowering Date — Populated when the plant's phase is changed to Flowering.
Days in Flower — Automatically calculated from the Flowering Date.
Total Age (Days) — Calculated from the original planted date of the source batch.
Harvested — Cumulative weight harvested from this plant.
Active vs. Inactive Plants
Use the dropdown at the top left to toggle between Active Plants and Inactive Plants. Plants become inactive when they are destroyed or fully harvested through a teardown.
Mother Plants
A plant designated as a Mother will display a Mother badge on its row. Mother plants are kept growing to serve as a source for future clone batches while other plants in the same room proceed to harvest.
Actions
Actions can be taken on a single plant via the row kebab menu (⋮), or on multiple plants at once by selecting them and using the bulk action kebab menu.
Add Cost
Assigns a non-inventory cost type (such as labor) to the selected plants. The total cost is distributed evenly across all selected plants. Cost Types must be pre-configured in Settings → Cost Accounting.
Move Plants
Moves the selected plants to a different location within the same license.
Record Waste
Records unusable plant material removed from growing plants — for example, fan leaves trimmed during the grow, or floor waste. This action syncs to Metrc and creates a traceability record but does not change the plant's status in Distru or Metrc.
Fill in the following fields:
Disposal Method (required)
Mixed Material
Waste Weight and Unit of Measure
Waste Reason (required)
Note (optional)
Waste Entry Date
⚠️ This action is permanent and cannot be undone.
Destroy Plants
Permanently destroys the selected plants and moves them to Inactive status. This uses the same form as Record Waste:
Disposal Method (required)
Waste Weight and Unit of Measure
Waste Reason (required)
Note (optional)
Waste Entry Date
⚠️ This action is permanent and cannot be undone.
Record Additive
Identical workflow to recording additives on Plant Batches.
Select one or more plants and choose Record Additives from the bulk action menu.
Set the Additive Date.
Click + Add Additives to add one or more additive line items. For each:
Product — Select the plant additive product.
Quantity Applied and Unit Type
Inventory Source — The location batch the inventory is being pulled from.
Batch — The specific inventory batch.
Application Device (optional) — e.g. Sprayer.
Click Record Additive. The cost of consumed inventory is distributed evenly across all selected plants.
CSV Export
Exports the selected plants to a CSV file.
Change Growth Phase
Changes the growth phase of the selected plants. Available phases are:
Flowering — Indicates the plant has begun producing usable flower. The Flowering Date will be recorded and Days in Flower will begin tracking.
Mother — Designates the plant as a mother plant. The plant will display a Mother badge and will remain active while clones are pulled from it.
Note: When performing a bulk Change Growth Phase, all selected plants must be either entirely mothers or entirely non-mothers — mixed selections are not supported.
Manicure Plants
Creates a Manicure Teardown (or adds the selected plants to an existing manicure teardown in progress). A manicure is used when a grower pulls usable weight — such as "tops" — but intends to keep the plants alive for future harvests. The plants are not destroyed after a manicure teardown is completed.
Manicure teardowns can be performed while plants are still in Vegetative status.
See the Teardowns section below for the full workflow.
Teardown Plants
Creates a standard Teardown (or adds the selected plants to an existing teardown in progress). Unlike a manicure, a regular teardown destroys the plants after the teardown is reviewed and completed.
All selected plants must be in Flowering status.
Plants currently associated with an open manicure teardown cannot be added to a regular teardown until that manicure teardown is completed. Manicure teardowns will not appear as options when adding plants to an existing regular teardown.
See the Teardowns section below for the full workflow.
Teardowns
Overview
A Teardown is the intermediate step between harvesting plant material and creating a Harvest record in Metrc. Teardowns are created from the Plants table via the Manicure Plants or Teardown Plants actions, then reviewed and finalized from the Teardowns table.
Navigation: Main Menu → Cultivation → Teardowns
Creating a Teardown
Whether initiating a manicure or a regular teardown, the process begins the same way:
From the Plants table, select the plants to include.
Choose Manicure Plants or Teardown Plants from the bulk action menu.
In the panel that opens:
Review the Teardown Name (auto-generated, editable).
Confirm the License and Weight Unit.
Each selected plant will appear as a row with a Weight field. Enter the amount of usable material pulled from each plant.
Entering weights — two options:
Per plant: Click into the scan field and scan the physical Metrc plant tag in hand — Distru will jump directly to that plant's row so you can enter its weight on the spot.
Total Weights: Click the Total Weights button to enter the combined weight for all plants of a given strain. Distru will distribute the weight evenly across all plants in that strain. (Only use this method if it is a compliant workflow in your state.)
Once weights are entered, click Create Teardown.
The teardown will appear in the Teardowns table with a status of Preparing, pending review by a cultivation lead or manager.
The Teardowns Table
The Teardowns table shows all teardowns across your license with the following columns:
Teardown Name
Status — Preparing (pending review) or Completed.
Harvests — Shows progress in the format X / Y synced to Metrc.
Identifying Manicure Teardowns
Manicure teardowns are identified by the M icon on their row in the table.
Deleting a Teardown
The kebab menu (⋮) on each teardown row contains a single option: Delete Teardown. Deleting a teardown returns all associated plants to the growth phase they were in before the teardown was created.
Reviewing & Finalizing a Teardown
Once a teardown has been created, a cultivation lead or manager reviews and submits it to Metrc from the Teardowns table.
Click the Review button on the teardown row.
The Review & Finalize Teardown panel will open, showing:
A summary of each harvest by strain, including weight recorded and plant count.
A field to name each harvest batch.
A Dry Room selector — the output location where the harvested material will be placed.
Check Complete Harvest & Sync to Metrc to confirm you are ready to submit.
Click Submit.
⚠️ Once finalized, you will no longer be able to add more plants to this teardown.
How Costs Flow Through Teardowns
Regular Teardown: The total accumulated cost of all plants in the teardown is carried forward to the resulting harvest automatically.
Manicure Teardown: Because the plants will continue growing, you will be prompted to specify what portion of the plants' current cost should be attributed to this harvest — either as a percentage or a fixed dollar amount. The remainder stays with the plants as they continue through the grow cycle.
