OVERVIEW: Do you have your inventory vault room arranged in a grid system, so that you and your staff are able to know exactly what is in Shelf #1 - Bin #3 at any given time? When you give your staff an item-pick list for an outgoing order, do you sometimes wish that it was arranged in such a way as to maximize movement, starting from one end of the vault and moving across to the other side, instead of constant back and forth? Using our Bin Tracking feature, you'll now be able to get as granular as you wish with the physical location of every single package in your inventory! Whether it's Shelf #2 - Bin #2, or Rack #4 - Drawer #4, Manufacturing License #420 - Building #2 - East Wing - Vault #4 - Rack #1 - Row D - Box 2 or something entirely different, whatever system that's in place that works for you and your staff is now an option to display on individual Metrc packages, and Batch-Tracked products shown within your Distru account.

Utilizing Bin Tracking in Your Daily Routine: Pick-n-Pack Items for Sales Orders

The main goal behind the Bin Tracking feature, other than giving our customers another way to organize their product, was to maximize movement and save time during the item selection process when you or your teammates are physically picking product to send to your customers'. This was done by adding the Bin info you've assigned to each individual package to the .pdf of the Sales Order. We feel that having the line item ordering of the. pdf arranged by Bin(s) and not simply by how those items were added to the Sales Order when creating it allows you and your team to move more efficiently within your vault or inventory room. Moving from left to right/top to bottom (or however your room is organized) saves time when compared to constantly moving from one side of the room to the other.

A. FIRST STEPS:

Before being able to use this great new feature, you'll have to reach out to the Distru crew via our chat bubble in order to get it turned on. Until doing so you'll see no mention of bins anywhere within your Distru account. Once we turn this one, you'll be able to go to Settings>Company Settings to toggle whether or not you want line items on your SO .pdf's to be sorted by bins. You don't have to toggle this, but turning this feature on is what enables your team to pick-n-pack your orders more efficiently:

B. CREATING BINS

After the bin feature is turned on, the next step will be to create the actual bins in the new section of your Distru account. You can navigate to this portion of your Distru account by clicking the 3-lined menu>Settings>Customize Distru>Bins.

To create a new Bin, click the green "Create Bin" button in the top right corner of your screen.

You'll then be prompted to enter the name you wish to call your new Bin. Feel free to be as broad (Vault #1) or as granular (Distro - Main Building - Vault #4 - Rack #2 - Drawer #9) as you wish. We made it so that there is no set structure to the naming convention of your bin, so whatever makes the most sense for you and your staff is what you should do.

As you create more and more bins you'll see them start to populate within the Bins page. To edit or delete any bin that you've created simply click the pencil (edit) icon or trashcan (delete) icon next to any bin.

NOTE: If you have multiple licenses within your Distru account you may want to start the Bin naming convention with something that indicates which license you're creating this bin for (Manu, Distro, etc), as the Bins you create will be available as options for you to choose across ALL of your licenses. Since your inventory setup could differ depending on which license/building you're in, starting each Bin name with a license-specific indicator will help you quickly select the exact Bin you're wishing to choose per package.

C. ASSIGNING BINS TO PACKAGES: PURCHASE ORDERS

When importing an incoming transfer as a Purchase Order, you'll now have the option to assign specific bins to every incoming package during the import process.

  1. Click the Metrc shield in the top right corner your Distru screen.

2. Under Metrc Actions, select "Import Incoming Transfer".

3. Select the appropriate incoming license at your facility using the dropdown menu provided, and then select the incoming transfer you wish to import.

4. You'll notice within the space for each package a new data entry field called "Bins". Click within that space to assign one or multiple Bins to each package in the incoming transfer.

5. Once you have your Bins and all other appropriate info filled in on the Purchase Order, hit the green "Create Purchase" button in the bottom right of the screen to complete the creation of the Purchase Order.

6. Once those packages have been imported, you'll now notice the specific Bin assigned to it within the individual packages info.

D. ASSIGNING BINS TO PACKAGES: PACKAGE IMPORT

If you choose to import incoming packages on an individual basis instead of an entire manifest's worth of packages like you would when you import an incoming transfer as a Purchase Order, the option to assign Bins to those individual packages is also an option.

  1. Click the Metrc shield in the top right corner of your Distru screen.

2. Select "Import Packages".

3. Select the appropriate incoming license from the dropdown provided.

4. Find the package you wish to import. You'll notice the Bins section is now available as a data entry field.

5. Click into that data entry field and select the appropriate Bin(s) from your Bin list that populates.

6. Once the Bin(s) and all other pertinent information has been filled out for that package, click the green "Import Package" button in the bottom right corner of the screen.

7. Once that package has been imported, you'll now notice the specific Bin(s) assigned to it within the individual packages info.

E. ASSIGNING BINS TO PACKAGES: ASSEMBLIES

When creating an entirely new package using the Assembly feature, you now have the option to assign a Bin to every package as it's being made.

  1. Start a new Assembly by using your preferred method, either utilizing the "+" Quick Create icon in the top right of your Distru screen...

...or by utilizing the 3-lined menu>Manufacturing route.

2. Fill in the appropriate info for the license, package #'s of the various ingredients used, weight or amount of Ingredients used, etc.

3. When filling in the info for the Output (new package) you'll notice a data entry field for Bin(s). Click into that field to select the Bin(s) you wish to assign to this new package.

4. When all the info necessary to make a new Assembly has been entered, click the green "Initiate" button in the bottom right corner of the screen.

5. Once the new Assembly has been created you'll now notice the specific Bin(s) assigned to that package within the info for that specific package.

F. ASSIGNING BINS TO PACKAGES: EDIT PACKAGE FEATURE

Maybe you wish to assign Bin info to packages that already exist within your Distru account after we turn this feature on for you. Perhaps you made a mistake when importing a package or creating a new Assembly and you need to go back and change the Bin(s) you assigned to certain packages. You can do this by utilizing the "Edit Package" feature.

  1. Find the appropriate package who's Bin info you wish to change, click the 3-dot menu option next to the package #, and select "Edit Package".

2. From the menu that appears you'll notice either the empty or pre-existing Bin info for that package. Simply click into the data field and select the appropriate Bin(s) you wish to assign to this package if none existed before, or if you need to change the pre-existing Bin(s) all you have to do is delete the incorrect one and select the right one from your list of options.

NOTE: Altering or adding Bin(s) info to multiple packages at once using the Bulk Edit feature within Distru is NOT an option.

G. ASSIGNING BINS TO BATCHES: PURCHASE ORDERS

Similar to adding Bins to packages when making or importing a Purchase Order, you also have the option to do add Bins to batches when performing the same action.

  1. Click either the "+" Quick Create button in the top right of your Distru screen, or head to the 3-lined menu>Settings>Purchasing and hit the green "Create Purchase" button to start the process of making a new Purchase Order.

  2. Fill out the pertinent information such as Supplier, Receiving Warehouse, etc.

  3. Begin to add the appropriate number of line items to the Purchase Order using the green "+ Add Purchase Line Item" button.

  4. Notice that when you start selecting the actual product to add to each line item using the "Pick a product" data field, when you add a Batch-tracked item from your list of products you'll now see that you have the option to add which Bin you want this incoming product going into:

  5. After adding all your line items and filling out all the info necessary to complete the Purchase Order, hit the green "Create Purchase" button in the bottom right corner. When you search for the particular batch of the products you recently brought into your inventory via this Purchase Order, you'll see the Bin info you added.

H. ASSIGNING BINS TO BATCHES: EDIT INFO FEATURE

You're able to add Bin information to preexisting Batches by using the "Edit Info" feature on that Batch.

  1. The quickest way to find the Batch you wish to edit is to search for the unique Batch name in the Distru search bar at the top of you screen. Click it once it auto-populates underneath the search bar.

  2. Hit the 3-dot menu option, followed by "Edit Info".

  3. From here you can add new Bins to Batches that may not have that info yet, or change the preexisting Bin info that is showing. Once the Bin info has been added or updated, hit the green "Update Batch" button to save your work.

  4. If you're planning on updating several Batches, head to the Batch Table.

5.Using the same "Edit Info" steps described above in steps #1-#3, you can quickly move down this table to add Bin info to as many batches as you'd like.

I. REPORTING: BIN INFO ON PACKAGE AND BATCH EXPORT

  1. When utilizing our "Export Batches" and "Export Packages" function (3-lined menu>Settings>Export Data), you'll now notice the additional Bin(s) column at the far right end of each.

  2. As Bins get added or deleted throughout your workday and week, the Bin info on these exports will change accordingly.
