1. Make sure products have high quality photos

Product photos are one of the first things that a customer sees when browsing products to purchase. In order to represent your products in the best possible way, it’s important to provide high quality images to show customers what they can expect to receive when they purchase your item.

Note: Before adding a product to your menu, make sure its product profile includes a photo. If no photo is uploaded, it will appear as a the default category image on your menu and make the overall look less polished. (see photo below)

2. Make sure products are named clearly and consistently

Your menu reflects your brand, so keeping it clean and consistent helps retailers shop confidently. Make sure product names clearly describe what you’re selling and include key details like size or weight when relevant (for example: 3.5g, 28g, 0.5g, 1g, 5-pack).

In each product profile, you’ll see fields for Internal Product Name and External Product Name. The Internal name is for your team and can be labeled however you prefer for production or fulfillment. The External name is what retailers see on your menu, so it’s best to keep that one polished, easy to read, and consistent across your catalog.

Suggested naming convention for the External Product Name:

Strain/Flavor Type | Size

Here are some examples:

Blueberry Kush | 3.5g

Blueberry Kush Preroll | 1g

Gelato Preroll Pack | 5pk

Banana Kush Cart | 1g

💡 Tip: Avoid typing product names in ALL CAPS. It’s harder to read and can feel visually fatiguing—using normal capitalization keeps your menu cleaner and easier to scan.

Note: You can add the brand name in the Brand field within the product profile. This keeps your external product names clean, while the brand appears in smaller text just above the product name on the menu (see example below). This also allows for filtering the full product list by brand.

3. Add as much product detail as possible

Providing rich product details helps retailers shop with confidence and make faster, more informed ordering decisions. The more context you can share, such as flower type, subcategory, and descriptions, the easier it is for customers to understand what they’re buying and filter your menu effectively.

Here are a few key fields you can fill out to improve the shopping experience:

  • Product description: Add a short overview of the product and any standout features.

  • THC / testing info: Include potency or lab results when available.

  • Subcategory: Helps buyers filter within a main category (ex: infused pre-roll, live resin, rosin). You can toggle this filter on/off, if needed.

  • Product group: Useful for organizing by type or effect (ex: indica, sativa, hybrid).

  • Strain: Add the strain name in the Strain field so buyers can search and filter easily.

4. Customize! Make it your own

DistruCommerce lets you customize your menu so it feels truly branded and like a dedicated page for retailers to shop from. We recommend taking advantage of these options to make your menu look polished and uniquely yours.

These are the visual customization options you can use to make your menu feel uniquely yours:

  • Accent Color: choose color of bar at the top of the menu

  • Banner Image: add an image to market your brand at the top of the menu

  • Company Logo: add your company logo; also used for menu card thumbnail

  • Company Description: a quick summary of your brand and what you're about

  • Contact Info: show customers where to contact you

  • Favicon: shown as the icon on the browser tabs

  • Home Page Title: shown as the text on the browser tabs

5. Set up your own custom Collections (NEW!)

Another way to customize your menus is by creating your own collections using flexible conditions you control. Instead of grouping products only by category, you can build collections around things like brand, subcategory, THC%, and more to organize your menu the way you want retailers to shop it.

6. Set up Pricing Tiers

DistruCommerce lets you create customer-specific Pricing Tiers so each retailer automatically sees the right price on your menu. If certain customers get special deals—like discounts on specific brands, categories, products, or even a percent off your base pricing—you can set tiers using conditions such as customer, brand, or category. Once a tier is in place, that retailer will only see their negotiated pricing when they shop your menu, and the discount will apply automatically at both the product level and in the cart.

7. Share menu with current customers

You’re all set! With your menu looking great and ready for buyers, the next step is sending it to your current customers so they can start ordering from you right away.

There are various ways to share your menu, here are a few different suggestions:

  • Create a QR code of your menu to be added to business cards or marketing assets

  • Add your link to your email signature or use the "Shop Our Menu" badge to add a button to your signature

  • Sending out an email or text listing out DistruCommerce key features to get retailers signed up along with the 1-pager

  • Adding a QR code of your menu to your home screen for easy sharing when out in the field

💡 Tip: You can even offer early DistruCommerce exclusive-only product drops or deals to encourage retailer adoption.

8. Add to Marketplace

Now that your customers know where to order from you, the next step is getting your menu in front of new retailers and turning them into new accounts. The best way to do that is by making your menu publicly live on the Distru Marketplace. Once it's live, you'll see the "Promote on DistruCommerce Shop & Discover" toggle to turn it on.

On the Shop & Discover page, buyers can browse all public menus, explore products they’re interested in, and easily see which menus those products come from—helping new prospects discover your brand and start shopping with you.
